  8. is a fast spelling checker an excellent interactive mode in which you can
  9. page/scroll up and down the list of misspelled words. Options allow you to
  10. view words in context, replace words in the file, and add words to the
  11. dictionary.

  13. The non-interactive mode sends a list of misspelled words to a text file.
  14. Utilities let you convert the dictionary file to a plain text file for easy
  15. modification and convert text files back to the dictionary file format.
  16. Another utility makes it easy to delete files from the dictionary without
  17. doing a conversion, and of course words can be added in the interactive mode.

  19. CC allows a general dictionary plus additional specialized dictionaries. This
  20. allows you to minimize the number of words that CC has to check against when
  21. you are dealing with special types of documents. Although the general
  22. dictionary that comes on the disk only has 16,000, we do not consider this a
  23. serious limitation because it is easy to add lists of words. This is an
  24. excellent program and at $10 to register, appears to be an absolute steal.

  30. is a list of words peculiar to the legal profession.  This is simply a list of
  31. words in straight ASCII text - not very exciting by itself, but it could be
  32. very useful for law offices when imported into CROSS CHECK.

  35. is not a program. It is a LIST OF LEGAL WORDS. It is meant to be imported into
  36. a spelling checking program.

  43. is a stand-alone spelling checker with a 112,000+ word dictionary to which you
  44. can add more words. It displays the text of the file it is checking as it
  45. checks it so that you can see the context at all times. It displays a list of
  46. possible corrections when it finds a word not in its dictionary. The program
  47. can handle words longer than 20 characters.

  49. Interestingly, it will display multiple words where appropriate. For example,
  50. when we tested it on a Reviews file, it came across the program name
  51. GRADESCAN, one of its alternative choices was GRADE SCAN -- two legitimate
  52. words when not run together.

  54. Unlike CROSS CHECK, ShareSpell does not support a second specialized
  55. dictionary file nor does it allow importing word lists, but its dictionary is
  56. several times larger than Cross Check's.

  61. PsL: ShareSpell may only be used on straight ASCII files. Write, like most word
  62. processors, puts lots of non-text characters in files unless you save them as
  63. Text Only. When you reload the spell-checked file, Write will (optionally)
  64. convert it back to Write format.

  89. check the spelling or meaning of a word. You can enter a word the way it
  90. sounds and JORJ will locate the actual spelling. Also included are
  91. Postal state abbreviations, weights and measures, and foreign words and
  92. phrases. A version is included that uses EMS/XMS.

  100. English, a 54,744-word list in Dutch, and a 3000-word list in German (this
  101. comes to us from The Netherlands). As a 116k TSR, it can easily be used in
  102. conjunction with any editor or word processor. It works simply by reading the
  103. screen and highlighting words not in it the selected word list, which it does
  104. very quickly.
